- Transfer system to new hardware platform (in progress)
- Developed 'migration suite' to facilitate migration of archive data to Oracle system

Hardware/Environment: IBM RS6000/Sun. Unix, Universe, Databasic, FTP, Unix-scripting. Windows 2000 Desktop, wIntegrate terminal emulation.
1995-2002 Senior Analyst Programmer, JP Morgan (was Hexagon Administration)
Hexagon, as part of Save & Prosper, Flemings, Chase Manhattan and ultimately JP Morgan provides
third-party valuation services to several prestigious clients (e.g. HSBC, Liberty and Martin Currie as well as in-house JP Morgan-Fleming Asset Management). Handling over 350 unit and investment trusts and OEIC (Open-Ended
Investment Companies) with a combined value in excess of 40 billion dollars. All performed on the 'Hexagon System' - of some 20-years vintage.
My role was to provide the link between the business needs of the organisation and the development and support of the system. Working closely with the Business Support Unit, Project Team, Client-relationship staff and general business departments, my duties included :-
- investigation and prioritisation of user/client change-requests
- requirements definition
- design & build
- system-test
- provision of user-acceptance test facilities
- implementation/support and documentation.
As Team Leader for three development staff (prior to redundancies), I was responsible for the distrubtion and supervision of their work. Subsequent to the redundancies I was retained to ensure 'business as usual' during the transition to a new computer system (to be based in Bournemouth).
Achievements:
- Re-engineered business-critical data interface (overnight processing of all deals, contracts and dividends for over 200 in-house funds). This resulted in a more robust, secure process with identifiable re-start points, reducing time lost by recovery processes run in the mornings.
- Provision of proprietary feeds and system integration with third-party reconciliation system (CARS) including integration of external SWIFT message feeds. This allowed daily reconciliation - rather than monthly - which improved the work-flow and accuracy of the reconciliation team.
- Provided a number of data feeds for clients, price publishers and performance analysts (FT, Micropal, JP Morgan Web services, etc.).
- Extended existing management Fee system to include fee rebates for cross-held funds and stepped management fees for very large funds. This enabled Hexagon to attract customers who expected these features, especially large Pension fund holders (e.g. Liberty).
- Automated production of compliance reports to forewarn of potential (or actual) breaches of regulations for OEIC, Unit and Investment Trusts and Offshore funds. This simplified the checking processes of the valuation team, increased detection of breaches and improved our pro-active response to breaches (which improved our relationship with the regulators, trustees and auditors).
- Designed, developed and implemented full software change control process for development team, including full software access control and fully automated release and recovery system.
- Part of company-wide 'Action Team' to promote creativity, development, etc.
Hardware/Environment: Hewlett-Packard System. Unix, Unidata/Universe, Databasic, FTP, Unix-scripting. NT Desktop.

Provided front-line customer support and system implementation services as well as software design and development. Provided training services in product and general operating system skills (database enquiry, system administration, etc.)
Achievements:
- Created and implemented change-control procedures for all software development. This prevented the loss of changes due to 'old' versions being re-imported from development systems and improved management control of development.
